Success on a shoestring

We were over the moon to win a national award for our energy-saving campaign at Marston’s Brewery.

The Institute of Internal Communications (IOIC) awards recognise the best of the best in the communications field. So we – your Communications team – were chuffed to be crowned the winners in the ‘success on a shoestring’ category, as well as picking up two more awards of excellence on the night.

We snapped up the top spot for our energy-saving campaign (called ‘You’re the right tool for the job’) at Marston’s Brewery in Burton upon Trent. It was great recognition of our efforts to encourage teammates to reduce the amount of energy, water and gas they use – all within a really tight budget.

Since its launch back in January, the campaign has helped brewery teammates to change their habits to make a big difference to both our environment and our business costs. And the team’s achieved some fantastic results so far, like reducing water usage by 16,000 pint glasses a day!

The IOIC judges praised the campaign – which included a team briefing pack, as well as onsite posters, stickers and barrels to trigger action at the source – for being bold and fun, and said that the results spoke for themselves.
