Pose. Snap. Filter. Upload.

Named as ‘word of the year’ in 2013, the selfie has grown so much that it’s now got its very own national day. Take a look at some of our fave selfies of all time for inspiration!

Tim Peake was the first British astronaut to carry out a spacewalk – and, naturally, he took a selfie to capture the moment. It was nothing short of out of this world (sorry!).

2. Team GB in flight

Team GB gold medal winners were snapped on their flight home from the Rio Olympics with a member of the BA cabin crew. It’s got to break the record for the biggest selfie on a plane.

3. Oscars-ready

Shared over three million times, the Oscars selfie is still the most retweeted photo in history. With pretty much the whole of the front row in view, it crams in about as much celebrity as poss!

4. Real-life Spiderman

Daredevil Kirill takes extreme selfies to dizzying new heights… It’s clear why he’s known as the ‘Russian Spiderman’ after this stunt at the top of the Mercury City Tower, Moscow’s tallest building.

5. Look out!

American reporter Kelly Nash snapped this shot at Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox baseball team. The big question is, did she see the ball flying in her direction?

6. Say cheese!

This impressive selfie was taken by an Indonesian black ape. He used equipment belonging to a British photographer, which sparked a huge copyright dispute between animal charity PETA and the photographer.

Now it’s your turn! All you need to do is take a selfie with your teammates and send your pic to communications@marstons.co.uk to feature on our @marstonsplc Instagram page on Selfie Day (21 June). The more creative, the better (remember to stay safe though!).

Have your say
