It’s so easy to say a quick thank you when someone’s helped you out or gone the extra mile – but how often do you really celebrate all the little (and large) things you do for each other? It’s time to mix it up and inject more fun into saying thank you!
That’s why we’re helping you to show all your appreciation with our new Thank You Menu – it’s your easy guide to recognising teammates. You’ll also be able to download some great templates and resources to add that personal touch (and to put the ‘you’ in saying ‘thank you!’).
So, here it is – the summer say-it challenge: one new way to say thank you every day. Just click on each box to reveal your tip for the day and let us know how you get on at communications@marstons.co.uk. Your two-week challenge starts here…

Start your shift by sharing something that will make people happy. Maybe a new target has been reached, or you’ve had some great customer feedback.
Working in a big team usually means that someone has a birthday coming up. Why not create a birthday thank you board and get the whole team to write one thing they really appreciate about the birthday boy or girl?
Give someone encouragement when they’re having a bad day – look for that silver lining and tackle the problem together, as a team.
Talking to someone in the team you don’t usually talk to could make their day – it shows you care and you could find out you’ve got lots in common too.
Take a team selfie or a pic of the person who’s gone above and beyond – and display it somewhere so others can see!
Pick a time outside of work when a group of you are free. Choose a fun team activity – like paintballing, a football match or a group quiz – to get to know each other better.
As well as saying thanks, make sure you smile – they’ll feel great and it’s been proven to make you feel good too!
Studies show people like to feel recognised for great work regularly. Don’t do it for the sake of it though! Make sure your ‘thanks’ really means something.
Find out if any of your teammates volunteer outside work or have a local charity they’re really passionate about. Suggest getting together with customers to have fun fundraising.
Not seen a teammate for a few shifts, but want to say thanks? Why not say it on the group’s Facebook page to let them know you’re thinking of them. You could post a memorable pic of you both too.
Make teammates a coffee, or bake them a cake to show your thanks. Make time to sit with them to enjoy it, too!
Bring great work to life by noting down how many times someone’s jumped in and helped out, how many WOW points they’ve picked up that week or how many times they’ve had great comments from teammates and customers.
Is there something small that someone does to help you out? If so, they may not be expecting a thank you – but speaking out in a team meeting or treating them to a drink could really make their day.
Keep it up! Make showing your appreciation part of your daily routine – saying ‘thanks’ in a special way might only be a small thing, but it’ll make a BIG difference to your teammates.
