National Apprenticeship Week is here!

This week is a great chance to showcase all that Marston’s does for apprentices.

National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is a nationwide celebration of apprenticeships and the positive contribution they make to businesses and the economy. Read on to find out how you can help to wave the NAW flag!

This week is a great chance to showcase all that Marston’s does for apprentices – and everything our apprentices do for us.

If you already employ apprentices – have a look at our guide (attached) which gives you some ideas of activities and events you could run to celebrate apprentice achievements and raise our profile. Let’s show the world how we encourage the enthusiasm and develop the skills of our apprentices.

If you are thinking of taking on an apprentice – this week may be the prompt you need! There’s going to be plenty going on that will show you the positive contribution apprentices make to our business. Maybe you could encourage some of your team members to become a Marston’s apprentice?

If you want to know more about apprenticeships – this week is a great starting point. Marston’s trains more than 400 apprentices in our pubs every year and we’d like to take on many more new apprentices and see our current teams developing further through an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are available for front and back of house teams, reception and housekeeping team as well as leadership and management for our shift leaders, second line chefs, supervisors, kitchen managers, head chefs and assistant managers!

Apprenticeships are good for all ages, and for young people who want a foot in the door – offering them a clear path to a great career – and good for our business. Here’s two reasons why:

  • Young people are the lifeblood of our business: apprentices relate to our young customer profile and help drive new ideas, making Marston’s the Place to Be as they Dream Big!
  • A new Apprenticeship Levy will mean that the more apprentices we take on, the more we will benefit from being able to reclaim the levy monies paid and put it towards investing in training and developing our people.

We’ll update you throughout the week on Your Place. Look out for more information, including short film profiles and snippets you can use on your Facebook groups and pages. And, if you haven’t already, check out the latest issue of The Place to hear from our talented apprentices about what it’s like to earn while they learn with us. Pick-up a copy of the magazine from your site to read their story and check-out the app for some apprenticeship myth-busting at http://bitly/MarstonsApp.
