Help for Heroes Week challenge accepted

Our Two for One pubs are fundraising for Help for Heroes, inspired by General Managers Tom and Keith, who have their own week of extreme madness planned!

This year, Help for Heroes will be getting an extra boost from our Two for One pubs, thanks to an initiative started by Keith and Tom, managers of the Apple Cart in Peterborough and the Sugar Mill in Bourne.

Help for Heroes has been a focus during Give Back Week and, last year, we built on the partnership with our Help for Heroes beer. Our support for the charity really highlights our commitment to the Armed Forces after signing the Corporate Covenant earlier this year too. But, keen to do more for one of the causes closest to our hearts, Keith and Tom suggested making 5-11 September ‘Help for Heroes Week’ across our Destination estate.

Each Two for One pub has a simple goal: to raise £250. How they do it is up to them, but it’s a great opportunity to get customers, suppliers and teammates involved, and have some fun whilst raising much-needed funds for the UK military charity. There’s also a competitive edge to the week, with prizes for the top fundraising pub and best performing area.

To get the fundraising inspiration flowing, Tom and Keith have made a video that (bravely!) demonstrates a range of challenges, from baked bean baths to ice bucket challenges. Have a look – both for the great ideas and the hilarious outtakes!

The pair have got their own week of madness planned too, and will be taking on an extreme challenge every day during the week itself: cycling from Gateshead to Carlisle, climbing Britain’s three highest peaks, completing a Tough Mudder challenge, braving a skydive AND taking part in the Great North Run. And they’ll be accompanied all the way by a keg of Help for Heroes beer!

Anyone can join Keith and Tom for any of the events. But, if all that activity leaves you breathless just thinking about it, go to their Facebook page to follow their journey, get some top fundraising tips, show your support and to get involved:

Good luck to all of our sites taking part!
