Cumberland recently reached the finals of Britain’s biggest beer festival.
Cumberland was a finalist at this year’s Great British Beer Festival, along with 17 other beers in the Champion Beer of Britain ‘Bitter’ category – a massive achievement at the UK’s biggest beer festival.
Cumberland, a golden full flavoured ale with a delicate hop character, is Jennings best-selling brand outside the Lake District. It’s not the first time it’s been in the winnings – Cumberland took bronze at the International Beer Challenge 2014 and a silver award at World Best Beer 2014.
Organised by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), the Great British Beer Festival ran from 9-13 August this year at London’s massive Olympia exhibition centre, attracting over 55,000 beer enthusiasts.
A poll held at the exhibition to find out which politician would make the best pub landlord voted Boris Johnson top. CAMRA chairman Colin Valentine said: “While the poll is a bit of fun, it shows that, in many cases, running a pub requires a lot of the skills of a good politician. You need to be able to listen, be diplomatic and be able to talk to a huge range of people and understand what they need.
“Pubs are the vital heart of our communities and the people who use them demand a lot of the people who run them – very similar to the demands we make on politicians.”
Huge congratulations to our team at Jennings for this achievement!
