Who will be our Chef of the Year 2016?

We’re on the search for this year’s Chef of the Year – and, with the 2016 competition set to be bigger and better than ever before, it’s an opportunity not to miss out on!

Think you’ve got what it takes to pick-up the 2016 title? Or know a chef in our Destination business who might be interested? Here’s everything you need to know about the competition and how to get involved…

What’s ‘Chef of the Year’ all about?

The annual competition gives our chefs the chance to showcase their passion, talent and creativity when it comes to food. They get to create and bring to life their very own menu at the heats. Plus, in September, six finalists will be invited to the legendary River Cottage HQ in Devon (home to celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s TV career!), where they’ll get hands-on in expert-lead tutorials and really put their cooking skills to the test with a box of mystery ingredients. On top of this, the competition’s a great opportunity to:-

– Bring your creative ideas to life and transform them into actual dishes
– Help put your pub on the map by demonstrating your ‘foodie’ talent
– Network with like-minded chefs and experts from across the country
– Stretch yourself and experience a brand new things – from techniques to ingredients
– Develop and learn new skills to take back to your pub and inspire teammates
– The winner gets the chance to work with our Food Development team to adapt their dish for next year’s menu
– There are some great prizes up for grabs (on top of the prestigious title and trophy!), including a 5* hotel stay and dinner at the Shard in London

Who can apply and how?

The competition’s open to all chefs in our Destination business (241, Generous George, Rotisserie, Carvery and Grill pubs). So, if you think you’ve got the skill and creativity to out-cook chefs from across the country (or if you know a chef who has the talent we’re looking for), we want to know!

To apply, simply fill in an application form (these have been sent to all of our Destination sites), detailing your two-course menu that you’ll cook at the heats, and return it to david.mann@marstons.co.uk or David Mann, Marston’s Training Centre, Summerfield Road, Wolverhampton, West Midlands WV1 4PR.

Applications are open NOW and close on 9 May.
