Is your grass greener?

We’re prepping for summer by giving our beer gardens a spring clean. Here are a few tips to spruce up your outdoor space.

This week is National Gardening Week, so there’s no better time to show your garden some love!

We’re lucky that we’ve got some of the best beer gardens around, but a recent study by The Morning Advertiser found that gardens are the most regularly neglected part of the pub. Our outdoor spaces help us stand out from the competition, so it’s time to grab your tools and get stuck in.  Here’s how…

  • Make your space ‘Instagrammable’! Hose down furniture and patio areas to get rid of leaves, litter, weeds, dirt and pesky bird poop, check that umbrellas are still in good shape, and spruce up your hanging baskets and planters.
  • Consider using the space in untraditional ways. Film nights or pop-up yoga classes are a great way to make the most of your space.
  • Remember that the customer experience outside needs to be just as good as it is on the inside. Make sure the garden is kept clean and tidy, and that service is on point.
  • A community-based garden or an allotment is a great way to keep your pub at the heart of the community.
  • Small touches go a long way! Offering sunscreen, blankets and outdoor heaters can encourage customers to stay out longer.
  • Upcycling old materials is a growing trend, so why not paint your empty barrels and use them as extra seating or doggy water pourers?!

Now it’s over to you! Doing something different in your garden? Share your ideas with us in the comments below.
