Champion by name. Champion by nature.

McEwan’s Champion is a gold medal winner in the strong ale category at the International Brewing and Cider awards 2019!

The International Brewing and Cider Awards started back in 1888. They’re often dubbed ‘the Oscars of the brewing industry’ – and with really good reason because winning a medal is recognition from industry experts that the beer is one of the best in the world!

This year, more than 1,000 beers and ciders from 50 countries were entered across nine different categories.

This medal follows an extremely successful rebrand of our malty beer last year, which has moved it up to 5th place in the national bottled ale market share rankings.

Chris, Technical Brewer at Eagle Brewery, said: “McEwan’s Champion is a real stand-out beer for us. At 7.3% abv, it’s packed with malt sweetness, roast malt notes and plenty of fruity esters. It’s a real fireside beer. We’re over the moon to have won this medal!”

What a McNificent win!
