Positively charged

We’re the first pub chain to rollout rapid charging points for electric vehicles, with more than 200 Marston’s sites joining the pollution-busting project.

Up to 4.8 tonnes of poisonous gasses will be removed from UK roads each year through the initiative, which kicked off at The Bakehouse, one of our carvery pubs in Welwyn Garden City, and will be fully rolled out by 2020.

400 charging points will be installed by rapid charging network operator Engenie, and will provide an 80% charge to vehicles in as little as 30 minutes – the perfect amount of time for customers to pop in for a cuppa’ or a bite to eat!

The project has been overseen by our brilliant energy team, which was recently named Energy Management Team of the Year (read all about it here).

Andy Kershaw, who heads up the team and is pictured with Patrick Sherriff from Engenie, said: “Our goal is to be the UK’s most environmentally efficient pub business – and with a number of initiatives already taking off, we are working really hard to make that a reality.”
