A Marston’s first!

The Queen of Hearts, Runcorn, is the first new-build pub to join our Heritage family.

Our Heritage pubs sit at the heart of the community – think great value food, exciting drinks, live sport and family-friendly entertainment! They know just how to make the most of a special occasion and our Heritage teams go above and beyond to support local charities and community causes.

We’re really proud of our H17 pubs and we’re committed to investing in them. It’s a real success story (the return on investment is the highest across our destination sites!) and show us exactly what the future of community pubs looks like.

The Queen of Hearts sits in the middle of a housing estate in Runcorn. And what about it’s name? Lewis Carroll, author of Alice in Wonderland, is from the local area and the pub is stop number 36 on the Alice in Wonderland town trail.

The pub offers something different to our typical Destination new-build food pubs – we’re encouraging customers who live nearby to walk past and pop in for a few drinks in the evening and there’s less focus on it being a drive-to destination for food.

But, there’s still an extensive menu offering subs and sarnies, light bites, Mexican-style burritos, salads, steaks and burgers. Plus, the star of the show is definitely the pizza oven, offering hand-stretched pizzas all day every day!

General Manager Michelle, is a Heritage legend and she’s been on a real journey since taking on the first invested pub under the heritage format. She said: “I’m really excited to be leading the first new-build Heritage pub. I’ve got a great team here and we’re raring to go!” Michelle’s already chosen to support two local charities – Halton Haven Hospice and Corpal (a charity supporting those with ACC or Aicardi Syndrome).

Check out the pub’s Facebook page for the latest news and updates. And, keep your eyes peeled for more Heritage refurbs coming soon…
