Celebrating our brilliant chefs

Listen in as we chat to Head Chef Niall and Line Chef Ben about their role on International Chefs Day.

International Chefs Day is all about celebrating the profession and encouraging young people to think about career opportunities in a kitchen.

Niall has 12 years’ service with Marston’s and fell in love with kitchen life whilst working part-time behind the bar at his local Taverns pub. He quit college, trained in the kitchen and worked his way up to Head Chef at a new-build Carvery pub.

Mostly recently, he’s been promoted to Area Support Chef for Accent, supporting other Head Chefs as they learn the new menu. In the future, Niall’s hoping to work in menu development and maybe even take on a role as General Manager.

Ben has always dreamed of working in a kitchen and decided to follow his passion after encouragement from his nan, who taught cookery. He worked in lots of different pubs and hotels, before joining Marston’s as a Rotisserie chef at Pen Y Bont Farm, Mold. It was the fresh-food concept that drew him to Hartford Hall and he’s not looked back since. Ben dreams of taking on a Head Chef role.
