Best pubs in Wigan!

We’re celebrating as The Red Lion, The White Lion and The Holts Arms have all been given the seal of approval by Three Best Rated.

Three Best Rated helps you find the best businesses in any city. The 50-point pub inspection includes everything from the building, décor, history, local reviews, customer satisfaction, prices and menus.

To have three of our pubs named in the top-three list (out of around 40 in and around Wigan!) is HUGE and it’s proof that we’ve got the best community pubs out there!

The Red Lion, Newburgh, is a picturesque village pub and hotel that sits on the Liverpool and Leeds canal. Customer reviews rave about the friendly team, impressive range of cask ales and delicious food. And, locals absolutely love Fizz Fridays!

The White Lion, Wrightington, is a family-run country pub that wowed inspectors with its fab breakfast menu, hearty pub lunches and great value for money. The beer garden gets a special mention – think fresh herbs, beautiful flower displays and plenty of hand-painted benches, perfect for relaxing in the sunshine.

The Holts Arms in Billinge is known locally as ‘the foot’ because of its position at the foot of the hill. It dates back to 1712 and makes the most of its original features by mixing old and new. It’s famous for weekly pub quizzes and is home to The Billinge Ginstitute – a festival featuring over 50 different gins!
