The ‘tick tock’ site

Our newest pub to join the Firebrand family has a very special history that’s set to get visitors having a great ‘time’…

The Clock Works in Ystradgynlais, Swansea opened its doors on Monday. With hand-stretched pizzas, dry-aged steaks and fizz on tap – plus stylish décor, plenty of space to unwind and relax in, and a large play area to keep the kids entertained – there’s something for everyone.

But what’s behind the name? The area’s famous for watchmaking and the land the pub is built on was actually home to two of the largest watchmaking factories in Britain – it was known locally as the ‘tick tock’ site. Clocks and watches made here were sold all over the world (in more than 60 different countries in fact!).
