Red carpet exclusives from Beer Town

We celebrated local film talent at the finale of our first Beer Town Film Festival. Here’s all the gossip from the red carpet…

The competition, in partnership with Burton and South Derbyshire College and the Burton Mail, launched last autumn and we were thrilled to have nearly 800 entries from home grown filmmakers.

A star-studded group of judges, including screenwriter for ‘Fight Club’ Jim Uhls, Hollywood visual effects producer Rich Yeomans, filmmaker and writer Deborah Haywood and music video and feature documentary maker David Morris, had the difficult task of picking the top talent from each of the categories.

Huge congratulations to the winners:

  • Matt Daunt – Best Promotional and Music Film and Best Overall Film (Directors’ Choice)
  • Jade Fovargue – Home Grown Talent
  • Jack Hale – People’s Choice Award
  • Niall Conroy – Best Short Documentary
  • Nick Jones – Best Short Fiction
  • Victoria Jardine and Ines Pagniez – Best Animated Film
  • Charlotte Regan – Best Young Filmmaker

We caught up with film finalists, judges and Beer Town guests at Marston’s Brewery in Burton, as they watched the winning films and enjoyed our locally-made beer ice cream and ploughman’s popcorn! Hit play below to explore the night for yourself…
