Success at Spoons

We’re celebrating three awards at the Wetherspoon’s Spring Beer Festival!

The festival runs twice a year, in spring and autumn, with 25 real-ales showcasing the best of British cask and five international collaboration brews. Brewers from across the world are given the opportunity to visit a UK brewery to brew in cask form. This is a unique experience because they normally work in keg, bottle or can.

Our cask of Hobgoblin IPA won gold in the ‘Strong Ale’ class and silver in the overall ‘Beer of the Festival’ competition! This is a fantastic result and great news ahead of the UK on-trade launch of the IPA (in keg) in the autumn.

Our collaboration brew, with Norwegian brewer Kjetil Jikiun, called Old World New England IPA, was produced exclusively for the festival at Banks’s Brewery, Wolverhampton, and bagged a silver in the ‘Overseas Brewer’ class.

We love being involved in the festival and have a great relationship with Wetherspoon’s, supplying lots of our brilliant brews to pubs. You’ll find Shipyard on the bar, Devils Backbone IPA in bottles and 13 Guns in can.

The judges, made up of leading trade operators, brewers, publicans, drinkers and CAMRA representatives, have direct experience in the industry and heaps of knowledge. They judge each category and select the top three, before deciding the ‘Beer of the Festival’. We received loads of great feedback on our brews and it shows that we really are ‘best for beer’.

Huge congratulations to all the teams involved!

Help us celebrate by spreading the good news 🙂
