Collab for IWD

DE14 brewster, Aneta, joined forces with Ritchie Bosworth, Head Brewer of Coventry's Twisted Barrel Ale brewery, to celebrate International Women’s Day last week.

Their collaborative brew, as part of International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD), is a Hazy Belgian Session IPA (4.8% abv) that will be available in the Twisted Barrel taproom and local pubs.

IWCBD is an annual event that began back in 2014, when 60 female brewers around the world simultaneously brewed the same recipe of craft beer. The event helps to raise awareness of women working in the brewing industry. It’s a great opportunity for women in brewing to network, too.

Marketing Manager Jo: “In the middle ages, it was women who were the powerhouse of brewing in Britain. By the 19th and 20th Centuries, that had died away, with brewing being seen as man’s work. But, over the last 10 years, brewers like Marston’s have been addressing that imbalance, with women rising naturally to the top.”

Aneta added: “I’m thrilled to work alongside the highly inventive team to add my own tastes and talents to a great new brew. This collaboration will be a mini-testament to the rise of women in beer.”

Keep an eye out for the next edition of The Place magazine, where we’ll be catching up with Emma Gilleland – Head of Production and our first female Head Brewer.
