Inspiring Futures with The Way

We loved having members from The Way join us recently to learn all about the opportunities available at Marston’s.

As a proud Founder Patron of The Way Wolverhampton Youth Zone (a purpose-built facility that provides young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to), we were beyond excited to get involved with the Inspiring Futures initiative.

This initiative supports students from Our Lady & St. Chad’s School, Wolverhampton, and is all about inspiring young people to work out what motivates them. It also helps them develop transferable skills in self-management, teamwork, decision-making, creativity and communication – things they can use in school and in their future careers.

Led by Jo Bradford, Apprenticeship Programme Manager, the day kicked-off at Marston’s House in Wolverhampton. Here, the group got a feel for life in an agile office environment and met a range of specialist teams which support the wider business, across HR, finance, IT, marketing, estates and customer services – to name just a few! It gave the members a real feel for the range of jobs and opportunities available.

Then it was a short hop across to the Talent Academy where everyone popped on their chef whites for pizza making. They got to experience what it’s like in one of our pub kitchens, experimenting with different sweet and savoury toppings.

Leonie Hudson, Employability and Enterprise Coordinator at The Way, said: “You’ve really worked your magic again. All of the young people were buzzing afterwards (and not just from the sugar!). We would love to bring more groups over in the future.”

We love supporting The Way and the great work they do with young people and we hope to host more events like this soon.
