You created a haven and we thank you!

New allotments, a family garden, children’s garden, counselling room revamp - all in a day’s work for our teammates at our annual charity day.

This year was the year for us to give a helping hand at The Haven in Wolverhampton. And that we did! It was our very own DIY SOS and our teammates loved every second of it.

Our annual charity day saw the centre which supports women and dependent children who are vulnerable to domestic violence, homelessness and abuse be transformed into a new space.

Our teammates from Marston’s Procurement and Marston’s Talent Academy, supported by our amazing and generous suppliers got to work to create a relaxation garden with new allotments for the women who use the refuge.

The women will now get to enjoy the new plants, the new pathway and a new garden feature.

The new family garden was transformed with new seating, new plants and allotments added with vegetables all ready to be grown.

The children will also get to enjoy a wild, activity garden – a fun area for the children to explore, with lots of fun creepy crawly facts and lots of things to find!

Our teammates said it was a “bright and exciting place to be” – we wondered if we would get them out of there!

Inside the team revamped the counselling room lounge with a warm calming colour to create a sanctuary for anyone that needs to talk.

Organisers at The Haven said it was now a “perfect space for classes and group sessions” and is “now a warm and homely space for kids to play with the chalk board wall.”

Our team finished off the revamp by introducing new artwork in the corridor to give a warm welcome to the women and children who stay there.

The Haven was set up in 1973 and is a charitable organisation which provides both practical and emotional support services to women and children who are affected by domestic violence and homelessness.

The Haven Wolverhampton is one of the largest refuge providers in the UK.

Here at Marston’s we are very proud to have supported The Haven and well done to all of our teammates involved for all of their hard work.
