“OARSOME” DAY FOR DRAYS

Our crew took bronze in the dragon boat race at Himley Hall.

Our Wolverhampton dray fleet team, led by Eugene Leonard and Tony McGrady, took on the challenge of the Great Pool at Himley Hall in Dudley for the third time, hoping to get further up the podium than their past record of winning bronze and silver in previous years.

John Beirne, Logistics Operations Manager- West, said the team did fantastically well considering they had last minute replacements due to injuries.

Our team got through their three heats and then into the final with the day’s sixth best time.

The lads came through strongly but were pipped into third place on the day, so came back with bronze medals.

The event, organised by Wolverhampton Rotary Club, pulls in over 2,000 spectators and has raised £345,000 for charity over the years.
