Dramatic delivery at The Fallow Field

A baby boy was born on the car park and a member of our team was on hand to help deliver the new bundle of joy!

On 11 January, Steven Hill and his wife Grace were on their way to Telford hospital to give birth to the latest addition to their family, when the baby decided that he wasn’t waiting any longer and Grace went into labour! Steven had no option and pulled their car over on the car park at the Fallow Field, where he ran inside our pub to get some help.

Julie Pitt, who’s worked at the Fallow Field for over six months, said: “I was just doing my normal day to day work when a man came rushing in and asked me to call for an ambulance. I asked him what was wrong and he said his wife was going into labour in the car park!

“I rang the ambulance service and went out to the car park and talked Steven through what the ambulance man was saying and what Steven had to do.”

Julie, a mum of two herself, added: “I don’t think it’s sunk in yet, what happened. It’s definitely a first for me! However, the father came in the next day to say thank you and gave me some wonderful flowers.”

Mum, Dad and the new baby boy are all doing well after their dramatic experience, and we would like to say thank you to Julie for everything she did during the birth and for taking customer service to a new level!

Well done Julie, we’re all very proud of you.
