Brand new routes

2016 marks the fifth Jennings Rivers Ride — Cumbria's friendliest cycling challenge — and, this year, four brand new routes have been added to the line-up.

The Rivers Ride was established as a fundraising and community response to the 2009 Cumbrian floods and has been sponsored by Jennings right from the start. But there’s something new to enjoy this time round!

Riders at the 2016 event, which starts on 2 October, will have the choice of four brand new routes. These have been moved to Cockermouth from Keswick due to parts of the original routes being damaged by last year’s floods in Cumbria.

From a fun fancy dress ride to an epic day with over 3,000m of ascent, including three Lake District passes, there’s something for everyone to try. The new routes (the Family Ride Trail Quest, Community Challenge, Foundation Fandango and Big Day Out) include both child friendly and more intensive rides.

The event raises much needed funds for the Cumbria Community Foundation (the charity behind the Flood Recovery Appeal), which has helped to raise over £10 million since its launch to support areas devastated by flooding. Jennings Brewery benefitted from the charity’s work in both 2009 and 2015, hence our ongoing support of the Rivers Ride.

Sarah Grave, Assistant Brand Manager for Jennings, said: “The Rivers Rides is a great local event to get involved with and supports a great cause. Jennings has been proud sponsors for five years now and we hope we can continue to make a difference with the event for local areas for many years to come.”
